چکیده

Detectable differences in surface membrane characteristics of normal lymphocyte populations have facilitated the classification of leukemic cells according to cell origin and Stage of differentiation. Recent reports show that distinct leukemic cell populations do not only express markers found on normal cell populations. Using specific antisera new antigenic determinants on cells of common acute lymphoblastic leukemia (cALL) and cells of some chronic myeloid leukemias (CML) in blast crisis have been identified [ l , 111. The discovery of a cALL-antigen allows the identification of further subgroups of ALL, which has already been described as a heterogenous disease by clinical and morphological criteria [4]. The nature of the cALL-antigen and the question of its occurence during normal hemopoietic development is still speculative. Our studies investigate the distribution of cALL-antigen in correlation with common markers on normal cells, cell lines and leukemic cells of a major group of ALL patients and analyze the effect of anti-cALL antibodies On hemopoietic precursor cell populations.

Defining Mixed Phenotypic Leukemias

The majority of acute leukemias can be classified by the lineage of origin of blast cells as either myeloid, B Lymphoblastic (B-ALL) or T lymphoblastic. Acute leukemias are categorized by flow cytometry and now, increasingly, molecular results which help to determine whether the leukemia arises from the myeloid or lymphoid series. There does exist, however, an undefined or ambiguous group of le...

Cluster of Differentiation 45: An Adjunct to Flowcytometric Diagnosis of Leukemias

Background: This Cross sectional comparative study was performed to compare the mean fluorescence intensity of cluster of differentiation 45 between healthy individuals and patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Patients and methods: Thirty three healthy individuals (mean age 11 years) and 41 patients with B cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (mean age 7 years) were enrolled in the study...

Significance of Cross Lineage Antigen Expression in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Background: Aberrant expression of cross-lineage antigens gives valuable insight into the diagnosis and prognosis of acute leukemia. In countries like India, cytogenetic tests are widely accessible. Exploring the prognostic value of an accessible test is of great importance. Therefore, establishing a population-specific immunophenotype database will enable to design an antibody panel equipped t...

RAPID COMMUNICATION Temporal Association of CD40 Antigen Expression With Discrete Stages of Human B-Cell Ontogeny and the Efficacy of Anti-CD40 Immunotoxins Against Clonogenic B-Lineage Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia as Well as B-Lineage Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Cells

Detailed immunophenotypic analyses of immunologically classified leukemias and lymphomas showed that CD40 displays an exquisite 6-lineage specificity within the human lymphopoietic system. Notably, 82% of B-lineage chronic lymphocytic leukemias (CLLs), 82% of B-lineage hairy cell leukemias (HCLs), 86% of B-lineage non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas (NHLs), and 29% of B-lineage acute lymphoblastic leukemia...

Characterization of Immunophenotypic Aberrancies in Adult and Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: Lessons from Regional Variation

Background & Objective: Although the antigen expression patterns of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) are well known, this study attempted to evaluate commonly used immune markers for immunophenotyping of acute leukemia to set the minimum of necessary diagnostic panels by flow cytometry. Methods: This study evaluated 89 patients referred from all over th...
